Artist's Comments

Yet another piece from the Distinction Gallery show. Oils on board. The photograph didn't come out well on this one. Doesn't do the original justice. I debated about even posting it. Might as well, right?

Critiques

This piece is truly amazing, all of the elements blending together to create a masterpiece. The road, straight, angular, just like the radio, the tornado, twirling and curling, just like the girls hair. The depth in this picture is truly fantastic, and one must wonder, about how you say the photo did not to the picture justice. I can only imagine how wonderful this would be to see in person then, to be able to see so clearly the textures, which already show you have an excellent eye to detail. The two cars and the cow only add to the tragic reality of this picture, and the color in the sky perfectly replicates the real thing. You should be proud. Your light source is evident and clear, your shadows well proportioned, and your interpretation of human features is stunning. The dress is simple, only adding to the glory of the piece, along with the detail to the radio.
Amazing amazing work!

Love that you gave her cork-screw curls. And the cow. :D

you know what's crazy? When there is a tornado, it really does turn the sky weird green like that. In the town I grew up in we used to get them all the time, and many times the sky would be that weird green shade whenever they touched down.

I hate not being able to post my work here and have people see it the way it looks, so i know some of how you feel. Yet, you can tell by things like the value changes and the composition that this is a really good piece of work!
:iconpezmonkey:
very cool piece. thanks for posting it.

What did the photo change? Colors? The feeling of contrast?

why don't you just take another picture? for me, sunny days in the shade (to avoid glare) works pretty well... though it's difficult with highly reflective pieces.

this image reflects exactly how i feel right now...

an open mind is wonderful, except for how everyone tries to put something into it

It's very impressive to see that you are always working and always has great* results. That's inspiring.

* h'm, reading now your comment... I think that the painting is very well done, but the creator of the art almost every time knows that it could be better. But it looks very good anyway

tornado...
:teevee: i watch it only on tv...

yah. it's pretty reflective, glossy. I don't have the original. It's at the gallery. If I get it back, I will be re-scanning it. :)

Oh. I was pretty pleased with the painting itself, just not the photograph of it. :)

a lot of glare. Some colors got washed out. Some parts don't show the detail that is there.
