This reminds me of looking for a Christmas tree with my dad when I was a child. We had to drive to every place that was selling trees in town and look at dozens of different trees. and then drive back to the first place we went to and get the first tree we looked at earlier.
what a beautiful work! It's funny though, how cultural exportation from the states has influenced the christmas mythology so much; winters here in portugal are basically cold and sunny (there's probably just 2 or 3 days of rain on the entire winter, and there's no memory of ever snowing in the capital, lisbon). and yet, I too have a tendency to associate christmas with this kind of environment...
but, damn, I wish I could see snow like that sometime
beautiful - not sure about the mouth of the kid facing out - teeth look a bit creepy. could be deliberate i suppose but doesn't work for me it jars with the rest of the pictures solid atmosphere. i love the self-contained style/world your pictures create. ie the texturising of the trees is fantastic - totally unrealistic yet real in the picture, couldn't be otherwise.
